A very swanky home one a beautiful street. The large picture window provides great natural light to the space. The formal dining at the far end.
Architecturally interesting elevation. Homes in this section of Glenbrook were very expensive when new, which is why the character and quality exceeds a lot of what you see within an 8 - 9 mile radius of downtown at anywhere close to this price point.
This is the one you've been waiting for! Stony Dell is an excellent street in the highly-acclaimed historic district. Very private cul-de-sac setting in the prime "hilly section." Lots of great trees, lots of great vintage character, great section of the neighborhood, this one checks a lot of boxes.
The photo doesn't really capture it, but the house is sitting up on a hill, the lot terraces down to the street. The house did not flood in Harvey either. For the price of a cookie-cutter townhome, you have a true swankienda, and still be very close to downtown, midtown, etc.
Another angle, note all the great trees in the area. There is also a lot of elbow room between houses, enhancing your privacy. Plenty of parking area. Quiet cul de sac with great neighbors.
Good size terrazzo tiled foyer. Big closet under the stairs, the doorway on the left of this shot leads to the formals, which we will get to next, on the right that doorway leads to the master and another secondary bedroom.
To the right of the entrance hall is a gracious size front living area with a huge picture window. The large sofa wall is great for displaying large art pieces. This is no tiny parlor, big enough to host large parties and have space for folks to move around.
The formal dining with a bay window is big enough for side pieces and good size table and chairs.
Straight back from the foyer is the spacious family room. Large bank of windows across the back for more great natural light, wood burning fireplace flanked by built ins. Original varied width pegged hardwood floors.
Opposite view, open bar area to kitchen, wood floors, lots of space for arranging furniture.
Large breakfast area with poured in place terrazzo floors. Door on left leads to good size utility room and a half bath.
Original vintage kitchen with poured terrazzo flooring, original cabinetry, (and lots of it!), tile counters and ss dishwasher.
Looking the opposite direction, back towards the formal dining room. There is tons of counter and cabinet space in this kitchen. Cabinetry and counters are in great vintage condition.
Close up of the vintage double ovens and pantry area.
Panning back around, more cabinets and counter space in the open bar area. Also note the breakfast room has an additional window overlooking the backyard, so it has windows on opposite wall for better light.
On the opposite side of the first floor is a short hallway with this fabulous vintage tile bath. You only find baths of this size and character in the more upscale homes of the period. In the mirror you can see the doors to an additional closet. There is great storage in this house.
Rear portion of the master bath. In the mirror you can see the door that leads back to the master bedroom.
Huge master bedroom with walk in closets and windows on two walls. Any size bedroom set will fit in here easily.
Across the hall is another bedroom with multiple windows. This would also make a great home office near the master bedroom.
At the top of the stairs is a bonus area, there are two giant walk in closets. The doors still retain the original wood-stained finish, there are a lot of great original details in this house that have not been "remuddled" out.
Opposite view, there are two huge bedrooms on either end of this space.
Large upstairs bedroom with built in desk.
Another great vintage tile bath with huge vanity and double sinks.
This is a monster size bedroom. This one also has a built in on the right just out of view.
Great covered patio space, I would be tempted to screen this part in and make a perfect bug-free backyard retreat area.
Looking back, there is a lot of patio space, but a lot of yard space still, just take a look...
Great size backyard with mature shade trees.
One thing that is very different in Glenbrook, especially this section of it, than other close in areas anywhere close to this price, (and a lot of areas that cost a lot more), is the generous space between the houses. That house on the other side of the fence is not very close. You really get a lot more privacy with this type of setting.
Opposite side of the house with side loading garage, so you also have a lot of elbow room on this side as well. Don't let this one get away!
Over twenty million has already been raised for the world-class botanical garden, set to open in 2020 directly across I-45 from Glenbrook Valley.
In 2013 & 2018, Houstonia Magazine has named Glenbrook Valley one of Houston's hot neighborhoods. This Old House dubbed it a top pick in 2013 as well. 5 homes have been featured in Houston House and Home, the AIA Guide to Houston also features several Glenbrook Valley homes.
The Hobby District has released a proposed plan to redevelop the area around Telephone Road and Bellfort into "Bellfort Station." Many things are happening in the area. The new Botanical Garden, the recent expansion of Hobby Airport, the expansion of the Gulfgate TIRZ & the Hobby Area District for the commercial properties in the area.
Freshly painted exterior. A well-maintained home with vintage character & details still intact & NO Harvey flooding. Tucked deep in the historic district’s highly coveted “hilly section” on a hilltop lot, yes in Houston! Spacious formals with large picture windows overlooking the terraced lawn. Paneled den with fireplace & original varied width pegged hardwood floors. Gleaming poured terrazzo in the kitchen wing, which has a big utility room, half bath, sunny breakfast room, & big kitchen with pristine vintage tile counters, original vintage double ovens & cabinetry. Master down with spacious vintage tile bath, adjacent bedroom DN would make an excellent home office. 2 more GIANT bedrooms and a playroom up. Covered patio & fenced backyard with beautiful mature shade trees. Lots of great press on the neighborhood, a fabulous new multi-million dollar botanical garden opening in the area, quick access to downtown & great neighbors!
