Welcome to the historic Dr Wm McCardell home. Sellers are only the 3rd owners of this charming cottage. The 2nd owner still lives nearby, having operated the property as a B&B for several of its 135 years until purchased by Sellers in 2018.
The wide front porch sweeps all the way around the front half of the home.
As you walk up the front steps you'll see the porch swing to the left. Beyond the swing was the original door to the Dr's residence.
The front door is to the right, and was once the physician's office entrance.
Sellers installed a stone paver path leading to a side gate next to the driveway.
The back of the home also has a screened porch, and overlooks a sprawling landscape of blooming plants and shade trees.
As soon as you step inside, you're swept back in time. High ceilings throughout highlight the original cypress wood, shiplap walls and ceilings. The period wallpaper, furnishings and custom stained glass look even richer in person!

The large living area evokes a natural warmth and charm that only the patina of aged original wood can provide.
Stained glass commissioned by Sellers reflects the colors of the late 1800's and early 1900's.
Much care was taken to uncover the original wood walls and ceiling, and many period light fixtures and hardware were added by the Sellers as well.
The original fireplace is one of two in the home. It has been retrofitted to allow for gas logs and cozy fires in winter months. Sconces above the mantel are period restorations also.
Spacious primary bedroom also features original wood floors and ceiling, with period wallpaper added by Sellers.
The second fireplace in the bedroom is also ready for gas logs in winter.
Primary bath offers luxurious soaking clawfoot tub, large linen closet, and door at right leads to a big walk-in closet.
Guest bedroom 2 was originally the waiting room for patients during Dr McCardell's time. Outside the window is the original well which they shared with the school across the street to provide water for the students. The door at left leads to a private en suite bathroom.

Bath 2 directly adjoins bedroom 2.
This home boasts a 2-room kitchen, with this amazing duel fuel range as the centerpiece of the front side. 
The front kitchen also has a large prep sink and breakfast table.
This room was originally the McCardell's dining room, as reflected by the built-in hutch with ceiling height display shelving common for the time.

Back kitchen has been modernized, with dishwasher and new fridge added by Sellers on either side of the second sink. Window view overlooks the back garden area.
Cabinets and storage lift the eye to the display shelving above.
More built-in kitchen cabinets. Door to front kitchen at left and door on right leads to back porch with adjacent large extra room currently used for utility storage.
This large extra room is not part of the original structure, however it provides a great space for a home office, bunk room, or its current storage function.
Originally an attached carport, the Sellers had the space enclosed to create a workshop and the laundry area located behind doors in the background.
This original source of drinking water is still functional, providing clear water with just a few pumps of the handle!

The other side of the back porch has gorgeous shaded views of the seasonal color always on display in the garden.

This amazing property is on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Wisteria vines drape two of rows of fencing in the back yard, filling the yard with fragrance and color. The shed in back is made from old barn wood. 
Dappled light spills onto one of several seating areas out back.
Next to the barn wood shed is another one made of corrugated metal where the Sellers store their ferns and other plants in the winter.

This home has become a fixture of the holiday landscape in Livingston. Wreaths hang on every window, and lights specially cut for the home will convey with the sale.
The exterior Christmas tree adds extra charm to the holiday decor.
The "Home for the Holidays" theme extends to the back porch as well.
