Principles and Ethics of Business Brokerage #1050

Education and professional guidelines provide a uniform standard of conduct among business brokers and clients which can include interaction with professionals in finance, law, banking, accounting, real estate, appraisers, and other services used by business brokers.

Topics include regulatory agencies that can control or regulate activities of business brokers; canons of professional ethics, conduct and the twenty articles of the TABB Code of Ethics, in addition to ten commandments of safe brokerage.

As a business broker you will have factual knowledge of private or personal details of a client’s business operations and financials. Confidentiality is crucial with business owners and sellers and with potential buyers. You will learn what to expect when you use a confidentiality agreement or a non-disclosure agreement with a potential buyer. Developing good judgement in this aspect of business brokerage is the mark of a professional.
