Both the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA) and Federal Antitrust Law (Antitrust) impact the real estate industry in ways that many license holders are unaware of. This course will examine these two laws in detail with a view towards protecting the public and brokerage firms from those that would violate the provisions contained therein. Deceptive trade acts, penalties, and defenses are discussed under DTPA and issues such as price fixing, boycotts, and allocation of markets are reviewed under Antitrust.
