Landlord and Tenant Law

This course introduces the major components of both residential and commercial landlord-tenant law in Texas and enables licensees to navigate the various statutory provisions that control this very complicated relationship in Texas. Topics covered include duty to repair, evictions, security deposits, late fees, security devices, smoke alarms, lockouts, utility cutoffs, application fees, and more. Chapters 24, 54, 91, 92, and 93 of the Texas Property Code are covered in depth.

The objective of the course is to familiarize license holders with the provisions of landlord-tenant law in Texas.

The relevance is for agents that practice leasing and/or property management. Much of what circulates in the media or by word-of-mouth on the street concerning landlord-tenant law is inaccurate or simply wrong. This course will give agents the resources to ably assist both landlords and tenants.
