On the other hand, Arlington High School also earned a State accountability rating of C. The school posted 80 in student achievement, 79 in school progress, 73 in closing performance gaps and 78 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only three distinction designations or awards for performance. For Seguin High School these are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Social Studies and with 25% student progress while Arlington High School secured in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science and Social Studies.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Seguin High School. They make up for 38.42% of student population, followed by Hispanics (31.93%), Asians (14.50%), Whites or Caucasians (11.96%), Two or More Races (2.67%) and Native Americans (0.45%).
The student population at Arlington High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 46.54%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (27.98%), African Americans (19.71%), Asians (2.85%), Two or More Races (2.27%) and Native Americans (0.50%).
Based on household incomes, Seguin High School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 64.89% compared to 62.32% at Arlington High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Seguin High School has 266 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 16.92% of student population.
