When we compared McCullough Junior High School, which is a part of CONROE ISD, with Moorhead Junior High School, which is a part of CONROE ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
McCullough Junior High School’s regular student population is 2,084 with a 18.2 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Moorhead Junior High School is 1,298 students and a 15 students/teacher ratio.
McCullough Junior High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 94 in student achievement, 90 in school progress and 92 in closing performance gaps. It is in this area where the two schools differ. McCullough Junior High School's three out of seven distinctions are in Science, Social Studies and post-secondary. Moorhead Junior High School’s only distinction designation is in Social Studies.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at McCullough Junior High School. They make up for 56.09% of student population, followed by Hispanics (25.67%), Asians (9.40%), African Americans (4.94%), Two or More Races (3.55%) and Native Americans (0.29%).
At Moorhead Junior High School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 65.41% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (31.20%), African Americans (1.77%), Two or More Races (0.77%), Native Americans (0.62%) and Asians (0.23%).
Based on household incomes, the McCullough Junior High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 11.71% compared to 76.19% at Moorhead Junior High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, McCullough Junior High School has 166 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 7.97% of student population. Moorhead Junior High School has significantly more ELLs at 486 or about 37.44% of student population.
McCullough Junior High School’s bilingual students comprise 7.73%, gifted and talented students, 19.77%, while 6.38% are in the special education program.
