When we compared Mansfield Legacy High School, which is a part of MANSFIELD ISD, with Mansfield High School, which is a part of MANSFIELD ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Mansfield Legacy High School’s regular student population is 2,449 with a student-teacher ratio of 18.1 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Mansfield High School is 2,580 students and a student-teacher ratio of 18 students/teacher ratio.
Mansfield Legacy High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 86 in student achievement, 82 in school progress and 83 in closing performance gaps. It scored 85 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Mansfield High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 92 in student achievement, 84 in school progress, 84 in closing performance gaps and 90 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Mansfield Legacy High School's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and 25% closing performance gaps. Mansfield High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Mansfield Legacy High School. They make up for 40.63% of student population, followed by Hispanics (33.28%), African Americans (18.25%), Two or More Races (4.53%), Asians (2.90%) and Native Americans (0.41%).
The student population at Mansfield High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 43.41%, followed by Hispanics (23.60%), African Americans (20.23%), Asians (7.36%), Two or More Races (4.88%) and Native Americans (0.35%).
Based on household incomes, Mansfield Legacy High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 41.81% compared to 28.84% at Mansfield High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Mansfield Legacy High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 6.98% of its student population compared to 3.26% at Mansfield High School.
In addition, Mansfield Legacy High School has 6.86% bilingual students, 8.04% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.33% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Mansfield High School with 3.18% bilingual students, 10.50% gifted and talented students and 9.38% students in the special education program.
Mansfield Legacy High School's 135 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 12.3 years. Mansfield High School's 143 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 8.1 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 13 years.
Of its teaching staff, Mansfield Legacy High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has 27 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 42 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 41 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 25 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including one beginning teacher only. Mansfield High School has five teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 24 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 56 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 26 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 29 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including four beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Mansfield Legacy High School employs 74 female teachers and 61 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 13 special education teachers are being assisted by 16 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs five staff members in the school administration department and 11 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Mansfield High School employs 81 female teachers and 62 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 15 special education teachers are being assisted by 17 teachers aides or paraprofessionals.
