When we compared Mansfield High School, which is a part of MANSFIELD ISD, with Mansfield Summit High School, which is a part of MANSFIELD ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Mansfield High School’s regular student population is 2,580 with a student-teacher ratio of 18 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Mansfield Summit High School is 1,905 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.1 students/teacher ratio.
Mansfield High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 92 in student achievement, 84 in school progress and 84 in closing performance gaps. It scored 90 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Mansfield Summit High School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 80 in student achievement, 81 in school progress, 77 in closing performance gaps and 80 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Mansfield High School and Mansfield Summit High School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Mansfield High School. They make up for 43.41% of student population, followed by Hispanics (23.60%), African Americans (20.23%), Asians (7.36%), Two or More Races (4.88%) and Native Americans (0.35%).
The student population at Mansfield Summit High School is also predominantly by African Americans at 43.25%, followed by Hispanics (29.03%), Whites or Caucasians (16.54%), Asians (6.67%), Two or More Races (3.88%) and Native Americans (0.31%).
Based on household incomes, the Mansfield High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 28.84% compared to 59.53% at Mansfield Summit High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Mansfield High School has 84 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 3.26% of student population. Mansfield Summit High School has significantly more ELLs at 145 or about 7.61% of student population.
Mansfield High School’s bilingual students comprise 3.18%, gifted and talented students, 10.50%, while 9.38% are in the special education program. Mansfield Summit High School bilingual students comprise 7.40%, gifted and talented students, 6.14%, and 10.97% are in the special education program.
Mansfield High School's 143 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 8.1 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 13 years. Mansfield Summit High School's 126 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.3 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 12.4 years.
Of its teaching staff, Mansfield High School has five teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 24 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 56 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 26 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 29 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including four beginning teachers. Mansfield Summit High School has three teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 26 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 36 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 25 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 34 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including one beginning teacher only.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Mansfield High School employs 81 female teachers and 62 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 15 special education teachers are being assisted by 17 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs five staff members in the school administration department and 11 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Mansfield Summit High School employs 69 female teachers and 56 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 16 special education teachers are being assisted by 15 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs six staff members in the school administration department and 12 more working as school support staff.
