Is Moving to New Territory, TX Right for You?

Everything is bigger in Texas and at least half of the fastest growing cities in the United States are in here. Or, at least, that’s what people say. Maybe there is bigger and better living there too.

There is more to Texas than the archetypal images that pop into your mind when you hear someone mention the state — cowboy boots, backyard BBQ, Willie Nelson, football, and Longhorns among other things. Texas is a vibrant State bursting at the seams with massively diverse communities which are also among the primary reasons why hundreds of thousands of new residents are moving into them every year. Putting it simply, people are really taking a liking to the lone star state.

Among the fastest growing communities in Texas is New Territory. This is a master-planned community within the city of Sugar Land, Texas with a population of just 13,861 in a 2000 census and skyrocketed to 15,186 in just ten years. At present, around 4,607 homes are within the community and the current population is approximately 17,000 residents. This is how fast New Territory has grown in a span of less than two decades.

An Oasis within a Bustling City

Situated in the City of Sugar Land, Texas, just thirty minutes from Houston, New Territory is located on 3,200 acres of prime property where once splendid sugar cane fields and old pecan groves thrived.  Residents here enjoy more than 450 acres of parks, lakes and wide areas of open land around the city including high quality recreation centers and programs.  This is truly an oasis within a dynamic city where you think peace and tranquility is hard to come by.

This master – planned community is a family-oriented neighborhood where quality recreational programs are available for all its residents. Central to the community is the 18,000 square foot Club Facility which accommodates a full size gymnasium complete with a fully furnished weight and fitness room, locker rooms and multi-purpose rooms for meetings, seminars and other indoor activities.  The Club also has an Olympic - sized swimming pool with a cabana, a fully equipped playground, eight lighted tennis courts, a Tennis Pro Shop, sports fields, and an amazing landscaping to complete the finishing touches to the entire complex.

Apart from the Club Facility, New Territory has three other Recreation Centers all with its own swimming pools and two with lighted tennis courts. The community also has its own Dog Park which is lacking in most developed suburban communities nowadays. Small parks and children’s playgrounds are also conveniently located in several neighborhoods throughout the community. And when it comes to sports recreation, New Territory’s own Sports Complex boasts nine soccer fields, baseball and softball fields, and a huge pavilion.

This is also one of the safest suburbs in Texas with its own contracted private deputy patrol service. All deputies that are part of the security force are employed Precinct 4 of the Fort Bend County Constable's office and serve as an augmented force for the current patrol services already provided and funded by the city.

Suburban Community with a Character

Living in New Territory provides residents a high – trend, suburban feel and most residents here own their homes. As a family friendly community and with facilities that allow the community to interact with each other, another appealing of moving to New Territory is its character. This master – planned community was annexed into Sugar Land on December 12, 2017 but even before that, the place already has its own vibe ever since it first opened in 1989.

You will love the diversity and culture of the people living here. The ambiance is very welcoming and there are lots of parks and schools surrounding the community. This is one of the best neighborhoods in the Sugar Land area and the safety of all residents are paramount. You can always walk or jog even in the middle of the night because patrol cars are always visible making sure that the entire neighborhood is safe. Neighbors know everyone and tend to look out for one another. You can feel their sense of community pride and they’re lots of green spaces for walking, biking, jogging, and other outdoor activities.

Sustainable Growth and Development

New Territory is located in a city that continues to attract new business and foster sustainable growth and development. There are some who are being annexed who worry about key city services such as trash pickup or where funds will come from for police force or fire department. But city leaders of Sugar Land understood how New Territory will become part of the city’s continued growth and attraction of new businesses that will mean more jobs for its residents. Sugar Land boasted the topmost growth among Texas' biggest cities based on the 2000 Census and this means New Territory will also be part of this growth and development.
