Where Does Your Social Media Post Rank?

Like everyone else in the world today I love social media.  Whether you are connecting with lost friends or promoting a business you can't go wrong.......or can you?

I am now approaching 500 friends on my Facebook page?  Does this mean I am popular?  I would love to think so just like I used to believe my mom when I was little and she told me I was pretty and had the voice of an angel.  Seeing as how I am not on this month's cover of Cosmopolitan or this season's American Idol I'm pretty sure I've been mislead.  So am I popular? Probably not but do I know how to network?  Yes. The problem is so does everyone else out there.

If I have 1000 "friends" then chances are those folks have a 1000 friends and so on and so on.  While this is a networker's dream you have to remember the basics.  With that many friends and just as many posts, where exactly does yours fall?  Chances are by the time people get around to reading all of the days posts they may never get to yours.

Studies show that peak social media hours are 6pm-11pm.  With most people at work during the day it is rare to have the time to sit down and scroll through your Facebook without getting an email from your supervisor regarding office internet etiquette. If you are posting most of your important information during the day then it may not be seen at all.

Save your big posts for the evening when most people are home and online without rushing.  If you still post during the day then re-post later as well.  Remember, social media is the perfect marketing tool when used to it's fullest advantage.  It doesn't do anyone any good if no one ever sees it.

Happy Posting!
