Its the First Day of Autumn! If you live in Texas, you might be wishing there were a slight chill in the air while you sip on your pumpkin spice anything. Regardless of the weather, its still a great time to get decorating. These 5 tips will help get you started.

1. Go Traditional... or Not

Pumpkins, gourds, and acorns arent the only items to give your home a seasonal look. For a quirky twist, center your fall decorations on woodland creatures this year. A mantel of baby fox figurines hiding amongst a row of pinecones can add a touch of whimsy everyone will enjoy.

2. Make It Vintage

Find vintage linens, dishes, and utensils to disperse throughout all of your favorite decorating spaces. Wooden spoons in the living room? Why not? Gather a bundle of warmly-worn spoons, tie them with natural twine, and nestle them in a display of autumn candles and miniature pumpkins.

3. Swap Out Your Pillows

Nothing says lets cuddle like tossing soft, comfortable pillows and blankets on the couch. A quick way to change the décor is to trade those designer-selected pillows for some cute fall-inspired ones. Can you feel the nights getting colder?

4.Pile Up the Pumpkins

Whats better- two pumpkins or a whole wagon full? Stack up a pile of pumpkins on an entry table, a mantel, or in front of a non-working fireplace. Choose a variety of colors, types, and sizes to give your pumpkin pile more interest. Including different shapes will also make it easier to build a sturdy structure.

5.Hang a Wreath Indoors

Place a fall wreath over the fireplace or above the table in your entryway. Add a coordinating collection of candles, nuts, and fall greenery for a quick and easy fall display. No fireplace? You can place a wreath in the middle of your dining room table to anchor your centerpiece in a fun and fabulous way.

If you want your home to look cozy and whimsical this fall, the most important piece of decorating advice is to be yourself and have fun. When you feel happy and comfortable about the way your home looks, others will, too.

Happy Fall!
