Hi guys, a very happy Wednesday morning to you. I hope you're have a great week. Buying a home involves making a lot of decisions. One such decision is the neighborhood you will purchase in. When working with home buyers, one of the things I like to do is to make sure he, she, they, have as much information as possible about their desired neighborhood so that along with my guidance, they can make an informed decision.

Some of the tools I use and suggest to them are included in the list below. While you can get a lot of your questions answered by your Realtor, should you choose to do some research on your own before making a purchasing commitment, here are a combination of apps and websites that allows you to do just that from your phone.

  • Walk Score (app and website) use it to find out how conducive an area is to walk.
  • Transit Score (website) Let you check out an areas accessibility to trains, buses, and light rail
  • NeighborhoodScout (website) Provides information on commute, crime, and home price in one easy to digest snapshot. Want to know whats unique about a neighborhood, you will find that out as well.
  • My local crime (website) Enter your home address to pull up any recent local crimes. Check out the map function while youre at it.
  • Topo zone map (website) While most maps show you only a two-dimensional rendering, topo zone map shows the surface and physical features of a given neighborhood.
  • Greatschools.org (website) Type in a Zip code to read school report cards from teachers, parents and student.
  • 2020 Census (website) breaks down age, population density, and commute times by neighborhood.

Let me know what you think and if you have any such apps to share. As always, thank you so much for stopping by, and remember, if you are thinking of purchasing your new home, or selling an existing one, please give us a call. We are here to help. We have been helping home buyers and sellers 12 years and counting. Until next time...Diana
