Amy Bernstein

Amy Bernstein founded Bernstein Realty in January of 1985 as a way to combine her two greatest passions – people and real estate. Bernstein holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education from The University of Texas at Austin and in addition to her Texas Real Estate license, has also earned her Graduate Realtor® Institute {GRI} designation. Bernstein's knowledge regarding current trends of the local real estate market and her unmatched negotiation skills make her an invaluable resource to her clients. She is also consulted regularly by the local media, including The Houston Chronicle, the Houston Business Journal, Ralph Bivin's Realty News Report, CultureMap and Houston's NBC affiliate, Channel 2. She has also appeared on several radio shows and has been a guest on Beyond the Headlines and Debra Duncan's show, Great Day Houston, on KHOU. Amy has also been invited to participate on several panels at local events including the Houston Business Journal's Powerful Women: Executive Women in Business.

In 2020, Amy was named a finalist in the Houston Chronicle Best of the Best Awards. In 2019 and 2018, Bernstein was awarded Industry MVP by Houston Agent Magazine, she was also named one of Houston Agent Magazine's Who's Who in Houston Residential Real Estate in 2018-2020. In 2018, Amy was featured on the cover of Houston Agent Magazine as a Top Producer in Houston Residential Real Estate. In 2017, she was named an honoree for the Houston Business Journal's Women Who Mean Business. In 2016, she was recognized by Houston Agent Magazine as Managing Broker of the Year and a finalist for the Charitable Service Award and Industry MVP. In 2015, she was recognized as the Industry MVP by Houston Agent Magazine. In 2014, she was recognized by Houston Woman Magazine as one of Houston's 50 Most Influential Women. A Passion for The Cure
In 2002, Bernstein co-founded the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation {NOMF}, which is dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research. Bernstein, along with a committee comprised of Realtors® and friends created this nonprofit organization to honor Bernstein's best friend and mentor, Nancy Owens, one of the most loved and respected members of Houston's real estate community. Sadly, Owens lost her battle with breast cancer in 2001; however, since that time NOMF has raised and contributed over 1.5 million dollars to benefit breast cancer research through the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Department of Nanomedicine Houston Methodist Research Institute and The Susan G. Komen Houston Affiliate. Since its inception in 2002, Bernstein has served as Chairperson for NOMF committee. In 2002, Amy Bernstein received the Houston Association of Realtors® John E. Wolf Community Service Award. In 2006, Bernstein along with the NOMF Committee received the John E. Wolf Community Service Award for all of their contributions. In 2018, the Foundation changed their name to be The Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation to be more in line with their mission statement. The Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation continues to receive tremendous support from the community, local media and press to find a cure for breast cancer.

Bernstein served on the Board of Directors for Avondale House, a local non-profit agency that provides services for children with autism and other developmental disorders. Served as the Chairperson for the Third Annual NOMF Luncheon.

Houston BMW Group honored Bernstein as a “Local Hero” in the fight against breast cancer for her co-creation and ongoing involvement in the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation. The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) chose Bernstein as one of ten finalists for Woman Business Owner of the Year.

2002
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation honored Bernstein for outstanding contributions to the development of Houston through real estate. Bernstein received the John E. Wolf Citizenship Cup Award from the Houston Association of Realtors. Co-Founded the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation.
